About me
Dr. Christian Servín is a Professor of Computer Science at El Paso Community College and a national leader in computing education for two-year institutions. He serves as Chair of ACM SIGCITE, Vice-Chair of the ACM Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC), and Program Evaluator for ABET’s Computing Accreditation Commission. Dr. Servín leads NSF-funded initiatives such as Hack the Border, integrating adversarial thinking, AI, and cybersecurity into foundational computing curricula through experiential learning and competency-based education. His work aligns workforce needs, industry partnerships, and national curricular efforts, contributing to CS2023 adaptation, OER development, and micro-credential pathways in AI and cybersecurity. He regularly presents at SIGCSE, ITiCSE, and IEEE venues and collaborates with educators nationwide to bridge academic preparation and industry expectations. Dr. Servín’s work centers on empowering diverse student populations through secure, ethical, and resilient computing education that fosters both technical competence and a strong sense of belonging.
