Morning Plenary: AI in Cybersecurity: Opportunities and Obstacles

AI has captured the attention of the cybersecurity community for years, and with rapidly increasing capabilities it is often heralded as a panacea for countering an ever-increasing flood of threats. But as AI’s capabilities continue to grow, so does its utility to adversaries. To keep AI-equipped adversaries at bay, it is critical for defenders to build AI systems that are performant, resilient, and cost-effective. As these systems operate over vast amounts of operational data and are often deployed to sensitive environments, practitioners need to look beyond technical requirements and be versed in the constraints imposed by privacy regulations, governance frameworks, and compliance controls. In this talk, we will explore the state of AI in cybersecurity and examine the new skills and approaches required to stay abreast of the threat.
